Over $5,000 Worth of Landscaping Equipment Stolen

Michael Buckner, a 55-year-old South Carolina resident living in the South Carolinian area known as 'Lowcountry,' was charged with receiving stolen goods after officials found several pieces of landscaping equipment, which was reported stolen, on his property.

In as little as two nights, an estimated $5,000 worth of landscaping equipment was taken from barns and businesses in the town of Shelton, S.C. The equipment that was stolen consisted of: stringtrimmers, a chainsaw, a Snapper riding lawn mower, a backpack blower and a white, gas-powered golf cart.

Deputies were able to find the man because one of the victims, an unnamed woman, had followed a white pickup truck, with what she believed was her equipment, to a dirt road near Trash Parkway. When officers arrived to the home on Trash Parkway, they found the same truck the victim had described, as well as equipment that matched the description the victim had given them. Buckner refused to cooperate with police and a search warrant was issued.

Police searched Buckner's home and seized numerous pieces of landscaping equipment that was missing, and other pieces that had their serial numbers removed.

After his arrest, Buckner was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center where his bond was set at $5,000 for receiving stolen goods. Buckner posted the bail and was subsequently released.
