OSRAM Creates Global Photo-Optic Division

DANVERS, Mass. - OSRAM GmbH of Munich, Germany, one of the world's leading lighting manufacturers, recently announced the formation of a Global Photo-Optic division, enabling the business to steadily expand its worldwide presence.

"Progress made by OSRAM in globalization over the last 10 years has enabled the Photo-Optic division to steadily expand its world presence," said Dr. Wolf-Dieter Bopst, president of OSRAM. "Today sales are evenly distributed across Europe, the United States and Asia, and products are developed and made on three continents. In taking things a step further to become a worldwide division, we will promote technology leadership and provide innovative products across borders in advance of the market."

Bernd Shaefer has been appointed general manager of Global Photo-Optic and will be based in Berlin, Germany. Paul Caramagna will have similar responsibilities as vice president and general manager of the NAFTA region, covering the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

"We are the supplier of exclusive lighting systems for customers in cinema, semiconductor, information display, airfield/specialty, entertainment, and medicial and scientific industries," said Caramagna.
