The Occupational Safety and Health Administration proposed a delay to the deadline to comply with the electronic reporting component of the Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses, to Dec. 1, 2017. The organization stated that this would allow them an opportunity to further review and consider the rule. The agency published the rule on May 12, 2016, but has determined that a further delay of the compliance date is warranted so additional evaluations into questions of law and policy can be made. The extension would also allow OSHA to provide employers the same four-month window for submitting data that the original rule would have provided. The public was invited to comment on the proposal, and the deadline for that has passed.
