Design Awards The 2012 ASLA Oregon Chapter Design Awards event was held Oct. 13 in the Tiffany Center's Emerald Ballroom in downtown Portland. The event was truly suspenseful, as the jury picks had not been announced ahead of the presentations. The jury was also on stage to allow its members to offer remarks about the award winning designs. The Mayer/Reed firm of Portland won the Award of Excellence in general design for the landscape design for the Bud Clark Commons Building (130 "studio" homes housed within a building) in Portland, and a Merit Award for the 30-story Mirabella senior high-rise apartment complex in Portland. The Walker Macy firm was also a dual winner, with a Merit Award in general design for the Harborside Fountain Park in Bremerton, Wash., and an Honor Award in general design for the Nancy Russell Overlook in Cape Horn, Wash.
Gopher Green The Willamette Valley section of the chapter held its second annual Gopher Green Golf Tournament at Diamond Woods in Monroe, Oregon on September 7. The event support the section's lectures and events. The weather was perfect. The Delta Construction team took first place.
