One Deserving Family Receives An Extreme Backyard

The custom-designed playhouse added a whimsical element to the backyard. The Hula Post had a custom flower-top surrounded by 5 ground sprays. Anaiah's new waterproof wheelchair for aquatic play is in the foreground.

In October, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition viewers were introduced to the Rucker Family, a normal family from Georgia whose lives were changed when their little girl Anaiah was struck by a car while trying to save her sister. The show built a whole new home for the family designed to accommodate Anaiah's wheelchair -- including an ADA-compliant aquatic play pad in the backyard outfitted by Waterplay Solutions Corporation.

The flower design was especially created to appeal to Anaiah Rucker and is wheelchair accessible.

Equipped with a Hula Post and multiple ground sprays, the show's designers worked to create an aquatic play pad that would suit Anaiah and the Rucker family just right.

''We were told that Anaiah is very interested in sports so we wanted to give her a place to cool off'' said Lisa Neilson, director of customer support & communications. ''The designers let us know they would be adding a flower embellishment to the feature and we saw this as a great opportunity to make the design perfect for the family.''

Having collaborated on a previous episode in 2005, Waterplay was thrilled to participate yet again.

''We were more than happy to contribute -- especially given the profound story of the Rucker family,'' said Neilson.
