The National Recreation and Park Association has developed a new guide titled, "Community Engagement Resource Guide: Creating Equitable Access to High-Performing Parks." According to a NRPA news release, the guide shows park and recreation professionals how to implement "equitable and inclusive community engagement strategies around the planning, design, construction, maintenance and activation of park projects and park plans." The guide is also meant to provide an engagement process created by communities. It contains research, interviews with park and recreation professionals, and feedback from community engagement experts. Four themes are divided into sections of the resource guide: Internal Assessment and Planning, Building Trust with Communities, Community Engagement Strategies and Evaluation. The collaborative efforts of the communities who have identified their needs and gathered input have provided strategies for agencies to build a better community engagement in the parks and recreation sector.
