NRPA's Congress 2011 on the Horizon

With legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk serving as guest speaker, the National Recreation and Parks Association is touting activity at its Congress 2011 to be held in Atlanta.

Promoting ''Active Minds and a Healthy Nation,'' the National Recreation and Parks Association's Congress 2011 will be held Nov. 1 - 3 in Atlanta.

All events will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center. Registration for the events opens on Nov. 1 at 7:30 a.m., continuing to 6:30 p.m. Events on the day include a Certified Playground Safety Inspector Course (exam) and education sessions. The opening general session starts at 11 a.m., with the exhibit hall and career center doors opening at 12:30 p.m. The exhibit hall will remain open until 5:30 p.m. The day will conclude with a welcoming celebration to be held from 6 to 9 p.m.

Registration opens on Nov. 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The exhibit hall and career center will open at 9:30 a.m. with education sessions being held throughout the day. The final day of Congress 2011 will include a 5K Fun Run/Walk in Piedmont Park, more education sessions and abbreviated hours for the exhibit hall. A closing party will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Nov. 3.
