The new resource is said to be grounded in research from the Community Preventive Services Task Force.

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) launched a new resource that is designed to aid park and recreation and industry professionals in establishing accessible parks, trails, and greenways for community members. The resource, titled Active Parks! Implementation Guide, was constructed from research conducted by the Community Preventive Services Task Force who promotes the combining of park, trail, and greenway infrastructure improvements with community activities such as structured programming, public awareness, community engagement, and more.

Kristine Stratton, NRPA president and CEO, explained the significance of the association's new resource in saying, "Using the Active Parks! Implementation Guide, park and recreation and public health professionals can take action to advance health equity in their communities. Prioritizing and engaging the people who have historically been excluded from the benefits that parks, trails, and greenways provide is critical to implementing this recommendation and ensuring quality of life for all."
