The NRPA will launch a new awards program to recognize innovation in parks and recreation.

The Innovation Awards will honor agencies nationwide that have exhibited excellence in park design, health and wellness, conservation and social equity.

Categories include:
• Innovation in Health Award: Recognizes an agency leading an innovative project that fosters a culture of health in their community
• Innovation in Conservation: Recognizes an agency leading an innovative project that addresses and localizes global or regional environmental changes.
• Innovation in Social Equity: Recognizes an agency leading a project that improves access and benefits to local parks and recreation for everyone in the community.
• Innovation in Park Design: Recognizes an agency who manages a unique park or facility that embraces and introduces innovations to the community.

Winners of the awards will be announced in June and public voting will decide who wins the Best in Innovation award.
