BLOOMINGTON, Minn.-Dozens of Notre Dame alumni in Indiana, Florida and Oregon are dedicating their Saturday mornings to "Mow for a Cause," a national day of service aimed at beautifying local communities.

In South Bend, Ind., alumni are partnering with local volunteers to rake, trim shrubs and collect debris in a neighborhood undergoing revitalization. Alumni in Ocala, Fla. will team up with youth to mow, trim shrubs and clean up the grounds of a local high school devastated by hurricanes. And Notre Dame grads in Portland, Org. are assisting in landscaping, picking weeds and hauling trash.

The Toro Company, in conjunction with the alumni association, is sponsoring Mow for a Cause. Toro is the exclusive provider of grounds maintenance equipment for the university.
