Park storage facilities are a practical necessities, but that doesn't mean they have to be drab, uninspired or downright ugly.
When the New York Battery Park City Authority required a storage structure on the highly visible corner of West and Murray Streets for lawn maintenance equipment (and gas tank storage) used for the surrounding playing fields and parks, the original idea was a tented structure, but FTL Design Engineering Studio recommended a light-weight translucent cellular polycarbonate building of 1,500 sq. ft., supported by steel portal frames with a varying beam. The south facade and the roof are curved (helps prevent glare), in contrast to the flat planes of the building's other three walls.
