BISMARCK, N.D. ?EUR??,,????'??? The state of North Dakota is one step closer to adopting licensure requirements for its landscape architects, as a bill regulating the practice of landscape architecture and placing oversight with the Board of Architecture has passed in the state house. The bill, HB 1204, is now in the state senate?EUR??,,????'???s hands, where it is currently being discussed by the senate?EUR??,,????'???s Political Subdivisions committee. The bill would prohibit use of the title ?EUR??,,????'??registered landscape architect?EUR??,,????'?? by any unregistered person. Applicants for registration would pay a fee of not more than $100 and would have to meet standards adopted by the Board of Architecture. The bill is of interest to students at North Dakota State University?EUR??,,????'???s School of Landscape Architecture, as well as state officials who want to keep college graduates in state. Only one or two of NDSU?EUR??,,????'???s 14 to 16 students who graduated from the program stay in North Dakota. According to NDSU officials, those who leave North Dakota move to states where they can become licensed.
