Design Charrette with DesignWorkshop - In partnership with DesignWorkshop, we conducted an intensive design charrette focused on reimagining the NC A&T campus landscape. Students collaborated with professionals to develop sustainable landscape concepts, including a vision to increase the campus's tree canopy from 3% to 35%. This charrette provided valuable experience in master planning and sustainable development.
Toyota Environmental Education Forest Project - Senior students are designing an environmental education project on Toyota North Carolina's 300-acre woodland in Liberty, NC. Tentatively called "Tranquility Trails" or "Wild Wonderwoods," the design includes nature trails, educational stations, and overlooks, offering a space for children to connect with nature. Toyota executives praised the project for aligning with their sustainability goals, demonstrating our program's commitment to environmental stewardship.
ASLA National Conference Participation -- Our juniors and seniors attended the ASLA National Conference, participating in sessions, networking, and engaging with industry leaders. Each student reflected on their experiences, which supported their professional growth and broadened their perspectives on current landscape architecture trends.
Benbow Park Community Master Planning Workshop -- Six senior students led a workshop with ten local residents, helping them envision the future of Benbow Park in Greensboro. Residents created master plans that guided the students' design work, providing a park concept rooted in community needs. This exercise offered students hands-on experience in community engagement and responsive design.
