The Media Factory has created an online learning and testing center aimed at allowing Florida licensed contractors to easily continue their education as required by the state. Contractors looking to complete their continuing education requirements now have a new source for professional development courses.

?EUR??,,????'??Florida is the only state where they require mandatory checks for which continuing education courses you?EUR??,,????'???ve taken,?EUR??,,????'?? said Media Factor partner Ron May.

Miguel Rivera Sanchez heads up the Professional Affordable Continuing Education Professional Development Hours (PACEDH). He conducted most of the research with landscape contractors for all the different areas of continuing education.

?EUR??,,????'??Landscape contractors can take all of our online courses,?EUR??,,????'?? said May. ?EUR??,,????'??They can look through and review them all and there?EUR??,,????'???s no pre-qualification necessary.?EUR??,,????'??

Tests are true/false and multiple choice, automatically scored online with 70 percent correct answers needed to pass. Each course has a narrative with a voice over and written text. Construction comic Carmen Ciricillo delivers the sometimes dry material in a funny way. The courses have a short quiz after each chapter with questions created by experts in the field.

?EUR??,,????'??We try to break up the monotony of the course by using reference files and humorous pictures,?EUR??,,????'?? said May. ?EUR??,,????'??We took a lot of Carmen?EUR??,,????'???s seminar material and put it online.?EUR??,,????'??

Some of the courses offered by the Media Factory include: ADA Errors and Omissions; Construction Business Ethics; Construction Legislation; Critical Safety Issues; OSHA Regulations; Worker?EUR??,,????'???s Compensation; and Building a Radon-Free House. Approved by Florida?EUR??,,????'???s Construction Industry Licensing Board, these courses were first offered this past summer.

Landscape contractors are given one hour of continuing education for courses that typically have 40 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes for quizzes. The cost of each hour course is $19.95.
