NLC Reports on Micromobility

According to the NLC, Micromobility Could be the Future of Streets
by Staff

The NLC draws their conclusions mainly from historical reasoning; that cars are a recent introduction to society.

The National League of Cities (NLC) recently published an article outlining the benefits of planning for micromobility. The main reasoning they present is that throughout history, the street has been a place for people, not cars. It was only recently that cars began to dominate the street and things like sidewalks were introduced. Things like trade, socialization, and activities could take place in the street without any worries.

The NLC promotes this idea, and offers a number of options, regarding specifically micromobility parking, to increase connection with the streets as pedestrians. The advocated plan is one that allows for dock-less and free floating parking for scooters, clear parking in high-density areas, and ubiquitous access to micromobility options.
