The New Jersey Department of Transportation will get $128 million in federal grants to help repair state roads and bridges damaged by Sandy. The grant is part of the $60.2 billion Sandy Supplemental Appropriations bill signed into law in January 2013. The full funding package will assist homeowners, businesses and communities recover from the storm, including rebuilding coastal transportation and clean-water infrastructure. On Feb. 19, NJ Gov. Chris Christie announced the "aggressive schedule" to rebuild the 12.5-mile storm-damaged stretch of Route 35 along the Barnegat Peninsula in Ocean County.
