New-York Penn League Groundskeeper of the Year Named

The Scrappers' home field is Eastwood Field, opened in 1999 as Cafaro Field. In their first six seasons, the Scrappers have averaged over 4,000 fans per game.


Dan Stricko, the Head Groundskeeper and Director of Stadium operations for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers was named Sports Turf Manager of the Year in the New York-Penn League. The Class A Short Season affiliate of the Cleveland Indians are located in Niles, Ohio.

Stricko is now up for nomination for the Short Season/Rookie Sports Turf Manager of the year, that will be selected at Baseballs Winter Meetings Awards Luncheon in Las Vegas.
