The 2012 ASLA Chapter Design Awards were presented April 24th at the Hort, the Horticultural Society of New York in NYC. Ten Honor awards and 13 Merit awards were presented to 16 firms, with three firms receiving multiple awards. Edmund Hollander Landscape Architect Design of New York City was the big multiple honoree, winning three Honor design awards, and one Merit award. The Honor awards went to the firm for the "Briar Patch Garden," "City Courtyard" and the "Dune House."
Dirtworks Landscape Architecture, PC earned an Honor award in landscape architectural design for Expanding Horizons Life Enrichment Center in Kings Mountain, N.C.
The New York City Department of Parks & Rec was awarded an Honor award for Printers Park Playground. Thomas Balsley Associates received an Honor award for the Riverside Park South waterfront project in NYC.
President's Dinner"?(R)?Back On! The chapter's President's Dinner, originally scheduled for Nov. 1, was postponed after the ravages inflicted along the Eastern Seaboard by Sandy. As we go the press the event has been rescheduled for Nov. 29 at Tribeca Three Sixty in New York City. The event will honor Douglas Blonsky, president and CEO of the Central Park Conservancy, Commissioner Carter Strickland of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection and The Architect's Newspaper.
