AUSTIN, Texas ?EUR??,,????'??+ A host of new laws affecting landscape architects are on the books and being enforced in Texas. These laws include: a statement of jurisdiction, which requires landscape architects to include a statement of jurisdiction in every written contract for professional services. The statement must include contact information for the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners and must state that the board has jurisdiction over complaints regarding a registrant?EUR??,,????'???s professional practices. If no written contract is used, the statement must be included in bills for services or posted on a sign in the registrant?EUR??,,????'???s office. Late registration renewal penalties are now in effect as well. If a renewal payment is not received on or before the due date for renewal of a license, a late fee will be applied as before. The second late fee, however, will be applied at 91 days rather than at 31 days, with fees increasing slightly. A new law also mandates the automatic cancellation of any license that has not been renewed within 365 days of the renewal deadline. Once the license is cancelled, it will be necessary to reapply for the license and go through the entire approval process, which could include reexamination.
