New Radio Program on Smart Irrigation

The Toro Company's Mike Baron (L) and Rob Starr are hosts of a new radio show in Southern California that will focus on water use efficiencies and current drought mandates.

In an effort to help educate people about products and practices for more efficient outdoor water use, the Toro Company has signed with NBC Radio affiliate KCAA 1050 AM in Southern California to present a weekly one-hour show.

Titled The Water Zone, the show's launch was made to coincide with July being Smart Irrigation Month, which was introduced by the Irrigation Association to draw greater attention to water-saving irrigation innovations and best practices, and has since gained recognition throughout the U.S.

The show will be hosted by Toro's Mike Baron and Rob Starr, who collectively have more than 50 years in the irrigation business. Besides informing listeners about the latest in smart irrigation technologies available, they will address California's drought situation and endeavor to keep listeners up-to-date on state and regional water policies.

The Water Zone plans to include one-on-one interviews of guests representing California state law makers, water agencies, landscape architects, landscape contractors, distributors, homebuilders, commercial developers, realtors and others. Additionally, the show will present an "irrigation retrofit project of the week." The audience will be able to call in to ask questions directly of either the show hosts or on-air guests. Listeners will also have a chance to win a completely updated irrigation system, including installation, that will help them save on outdoor water use.

The show kicked off on Thursday, June 25 at 6 p.m. PDT and will air every Thursday at 6 p.m. through September 17. For more information about the show, visit the KCAA 1050 AM website. (www.kcaaradio.com)
