A bill that would create a practice act for landscape architects is under review by New Jersey?EUR??,,????'?????<


New Jersey landscape architects have introduced legislation that would create a practice act law for the profession. Currently, the state is one of eight that operate with a title act only.

Called Assembly Bill 3247, the legislation would transfer the powers of the Landscape Architect Examination and Evaluation Committee to the New Jersey State Board of Architects. But it would do little to loosen the state?EUR??,,????'?????<

  1. When revised, it will change the status of the profession in New Jersey from a ?EUR??,,????'?????<
  2. It will modify the definition of the practice of landscape architecture in New Jersey to more closely reflect the training and abilities of landscape architects from a national perspective.
  3. The bill is currently being reviewed by the N.J. state legislature. The final revised bill should be released shortly, and available for public comment. Until the review and revisions are completed a more detailed commentary would be premature.

NJASLA supports the upgrade from a title to a title and practice act and the revision of the definition of landscape architecture in New Jersey. The upgrade process was initiated by the NJASLA and is a major strategic initiative of the Association.?EUR??,,????'?????<
