The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) announces its newest chapter, Granite State Landscape Architects (GSLA), which was a section of the Boston chapter.

Deciding to branch out, the 49th chapter led by President Susanne Smith Meyer has already dug into her role and set goals, such as growing membership, increasing member participation, and promoting visibility of the profession.

Advocacy priorities include lobbying municipalities to require licensed landscape architects to stamp landscape and planting plans for projects requiring municipal review and approvals; monitoring state legislation; and protecting state licensure.

The chapter will also educate and inform policy makers about the role of landscape architects and the importance of their contributions in the planning and design process.

Other goals include providing membership with networking and education opportunities for the chapter, collaborating with bordering ASLA chapters to create opportunities for fellowship and professional development, participation in national public awareness initiatives, and providing support to emerging professionals.
