New ASLA Leadership for 2005


Patrick Miller, FASLA, is the American Society of Landscape Architects?EUR??,,????'??? president for 2005.
The American Society of Landscape Architects has announced that Patrick A. Miller, Ph.D., FASLA, is the group?EUR??,,????'???s new president for 2005. Miller, a professor of landscape architecture at Virginia Polytechnic and State University, is joined by a newly-selected president-elect and three new vice presidents who will serve the Washington, D.C.-based group. They are president-elect Dennis Carmichael, FASLA, (of EDAW?EUR??,,????'???s Alexandria, Va. office) and vice presidents William T. Eubanks III, ASLA (Seamon, Whiteside and Associates of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.), Donald Leary, ASLA, (Land Design, LLC of Perrysburg, Ohio) and Robert B. Tilson, ASLA (Tilson Group of Vienna, Va.). New president Miller said that landscape architects can play a role in improving and transforming the lives of millions of people. ?EUR??,,????'??Landscape architects are positioned to lead collaborative efforts that can greatly improve quality of life,?EUR??,,????'?? he said in a statement. ?EUR??,,????'??By applying principles of design, planning and land use, we can create healthy environments in which to live, work and play. I?EUR??,,????'???m looking forward to working with my colleagues on these challenges and others facing our nation and our world.?EUR??,,????'?? Miller received his MLA from U.C. Berkeley and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He has headed the Virginia landscape architecture program for 14 years. Susan L.B. Jacobson, FASLA, who served as president for 2004, remains on the ASLA?EUR??,,????'???s executive committee.
