The North Carolina Department of Transportation activated a new website called "WalkBikeNC.com" that helps explain the statewide pedestrian and bicycle mobility plan, and provides detailed state and regional bike path maps showing viewers not just the state's routes but how they connect to adjacent states.

The website's online map app shows thousands of miles of NCDOT-designated, on-road bicycle routes that had formerly been available to the public only as paper maps. It also has turn-by-turn trip planning features.

"Our state's cycling and walking routes and greenways are an economic asset," said NCDOT Bicycle and Pedestrian Division Director Lauren Blackburn. "These networks connect visitors and residents to job centers, schools, open space, historic sites, small towns and other important destinations."

To view the website please visit walkbikenc.com.
