Work done by landscape architects for the national forests may often go unrecognized, perhaps because it?EUR??,,????'???s a team effort that includes foresters, engineers, hydrologists, biologists, soil scientists and range managers, all working to find a balance between retaining nature?EUR??,,????'???s offerings and the needs for timber.

Fletcher began his Forest Service career in 1970 with the Rogue River National Forest in Medford, Ore. A graduate of Kansas State University in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, Fletcher became the special projects landscape architect for the Targhee National Forest in St. Anthony, Idaho, transferred to the Caribou National Forest in Pocatello in 1972 and then came to the Sawtooth National Forest in 1974 as the assistant forest landscape architect.

In 2003, he had the responsibility of transporting the Capitol Christmas tree from Idaho to Washington, D.C. Fletcher has also voluntered with Access 90s trail rides and the Special Olympics Winter Games.
