National Park Service Awards 5 winners announced Missoula, MT The National Park Service recently presented five individuals with its annual Natural Resource Stewardship awards for excellence in the field of natural resources. These awards recognize achievements in protecting the health of ecosystems in the parks. This year's recipients have developed and strengthened partnerships for the protection of resources. The 1999 award winners are: Andrew Ringgold, Superintendent, Redwood National Park, Director's Award for Superintendent of the Year for Natural Resource Stewardship; Merry Petrossian, Chief of Maintenance, USS Arizona Memorial, Director's Award for Excellence in Natural Resource Stewardship through Maintenance; Dan Foster, Integrated Resource Program Manager, Nez Perce National Historical Park, Director's Award for Trish Patterson/Student Conservation Association Award for Resource Management in a Small Park; Steven Petersburg, Resource Manager, Dinosaur National Park, Director's Award for Natural Resource Management; Dr. Howard Ginsberg, Research Ecologist, USGS Biological Resources Division, Director's Award for Natural Resource Research. The awards were presented to the recipients by Associate Director, Natural Resource Stewardship and Science, Mike Soukup at the Annual Natural Resource Meeting at the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana.
