The National Association of Landscape Professionals has announced that the Landscape Industry Certified Technician-Exterior exam will only be offered online starting January 1, 2019. The certification is for exterior technicians seeking to specialize in four areas: hardscape installation, softscape installation, turf maintenance and ornamental maintenance or irrigation.

Currently, this test is the only one out of the seven Landscape Industry Certification programs that does not offer testing online. Because it is only available in 15 states, landscape professionals have had great difficulty in obtaining the Technician-Exterior certification.

After December 31, NALP's interactive online platform will replace the standard methods of hands-on and written tests for this certification, but it will still test the same skills and knowledge.

NALP encourages those who are studying for the Landscape Industry Certified Technician-Exterior test to contact their state associations and complete the testing by December 31.
