NADRA Opens 2016 National Deck Competition

NADRA, an organization that serves the deck and railing industry, is seeking entries for the 2016 National Deck Competition. Both builders and manufacturers are invited to submit their deck projects.

The North American Deck and Railing Association has opened entries for the 2016 National Deck Competition, which honors outstanding decks and outdoor living spaces that include decks, porches or docks.

There are thirteen categories to enter in, plus two People's Choice awards decided by number of likes on Facebook. These two awards, one for builders and the other for manufacturers, are determined after judging has ended so as to not influence the judges' decision. Every project submitted has the chance to win a People's Choice award.

Each award category must receive at least three entries or it will be removed from the competition. Projects may be entered in multiple categories – enter in two categories to receive a half price ticket to the awards ceremony; enter in five or more for a free ticket. Projects will only be judged based on the category they are entered in. For example, a project with a deck and a porch entered in the appropriate deck category will only be judged by the deck. The same project entered in the porch category will only be judged by the porch.

Unless specified in the category description, all entries must be residential projects.

Entrants must be NADRA members in good standing; non-members may enter if they join NADRA. Decks must have been completed in 2015 or 2016. All that is needed to enter is three .jpg images, a project description and a $40 fee per entry ($100 for a manufacturer entry). Photos, photo names and the project description should not include any identifying information such as contact name, location, logo, or company name.

Winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Baltimore on October 6. Registration details will be announced at a later date.
