This year, Michigan State University is commemorating the 120th anniversary of its landscape architect program. Formed in 1898, MSU's landscape architect school program is the oldest in the nation.
Deutsch's speech was titled "The New Landscape Declaration: Our 21st Century Call to Action," which addressed the vital role of landscape architecture in finding solutions to issues of our time such as climate change, species extinction, rapid urbanization and inequity.
Professor Jun-Hyun Kim, the Landscape Architecture program director, stated in an MSU article, "It is a very exciting time for us in many ways, a milestone moment with a number of accomplishments."
