Geared to municipal foresters, arborists, landscape architects and others who own, care for or plan for trees, the Morton Arboretum (mortonarb.org) in Lisle, Illinois will host a conference titled "Managing Urban Forests in a Changing Climate," November 18-19. The conference will examine climate change and its impact on trees in the urban and suburban forest. The two-day conference will feature a variety of programs and speakers from organizations, including the USDA Forest Service, all aimed at equipping professionals with information and effective tools for planning and decision-making in urban forest management. Attendees will also gain insight into other environmental concerns, such as how tree placement can lessen the impact of stormwater. The conference will also explore resources and strategies available to plan a healthy urban forest and foster discussion of practical issues like pest and disease control.
