More Green Help for Those Who Serve

Green Care for Troops, a national program that connects currently deployed military personnel in need of lawn care services with volunteers from the landscape industry, this summer will reach out to wounded and disabled veterans as well.

As they did for their SnowCare for Troops program, Project EverGreen this year expanded Green Care for Troops to include wounded and disabled veterans in addition to families of currently deployed military personnel.

The program, underwritten by The Toro Company, was launched in 2007 and has served more than 10,000 military families across the country with the assistance of more than 4,000 lawn and landscape contractor volunteers – and are always looking for new ones.

April 19-25 will be National GreenCare for Troops Awareness Week; intended to raise awareness of the program and spotlight the efforts of the program's volunteers and the military families and veterans it serves.

Project EverGreen has also designated May 17-23 as National "Healthy Turf. Healthy Kids. •" Awareness Week and November 8-14 as National SnowCare for Troops Awareness Week.
