Landscape Architect Jeffrey Siegel, known for his park work in Plantation, Fla. and love of greening the community with trees and plants, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009. The Sun Sentinel reported he underwent an endoscopy in Feb. 2009. His brother, Broward Circuit Judge Andrew Siegel, told the paper his brother?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s bowel was perforated during the procedure. Mr. Siegel never returned to work after the procedure. Jeffrey Siegel took special pleasure in seeing, year after year, the inclusion of the city of Plantation by the Arbor Day Foundation in its "Tree City USA." He worked for tougher tree pruning regulations and ordinances regulating the cutting down of community trees. Plantation is in south Florida, just west of Ft. Lauderdale. Mr. Siegel resided in the community of Lighthouse Point (pop. 11,282), which is just north of Pompano Beach. Jeffrey Siegel was born in New York but raised in South Florida, attending high school in Sunrise. He earned his bachelor's in landscape architecture from the University of Florida and his master's from the University of Georgia in Athens. Andrew Siegel described his brother as passionate about his vocation?EUR??,,????'?????<??oelandscape architecture?EUR??,,????'?????<??oeand for his love of Plantation and the way the city looked. In addition to his brother Andrew, Mr. Siegel is survived by his wife, Sally; sons Isaac, 15, and Ian, 12; a sister, Melinda of Fort Lauderdale; brothers Stephen of Cedar Grove, N.J., and Joshua Siegel, of West Simsbury, Conn.; and his mother, Gilda Siegel, of Fort Lauderdale. |
