Robert Arcieri, 64, passed away indulging in one of his favorite pastimes?EUR??,,????'??+hiking in the remote canyons of Utah. He was born in Grand Junction, Colo. to William and Sabbie Arcieri, owners of Arcieri Nursery. Here he learned about plants, which developed into a lifelong interest. He was class president of Grand Junction High School, then attended Stanford University for two years, where he played defensive lineman for the Stanford Cardinals. He transfered to Iowa State his junior year and graduated in 1966 with a BS in landscape architecture, then earned a masters in urban planning. Mr. Arcieri moved to Breckenridge, Colo. in 1970 and formed the Harris St. Group with architect Jon Gunson. Their architecture and planning firm designed the town’s master plan, development code and historic guidelines, which are still in use. The firm also designed Breckenridge?EUR??,,????'???s Main Street sidewalks, lights and landscaping. They received the American Institute of Planners Meritorious Program Award, which was presented to the Town of Breckenridge, and also received the Colorado Columbine Award for Design Excellence. Mr. Arcieri was active as a volunteer for the arts, the environment, Historic Society, Ambulance Service, Search and Rescue Group and the Breckenridge Christian Ministries. He married Deb Finley in 1980 in Breckenridge. The couple had a son, Tony, and daughter, Nikki. In 1982 they moved to Grand Junction, where Bob practiced as a landscape architect. He received numerous landscape awards for his beautiful garden landscapes in Western Colorado, many in conjunction with Bookcliff Gardens. After his footballs days, Mr. Arcieri enjoyed going skiing and hiking in the desert, exploring canyons and ruins with friends David Bailey and Mark Brookfield. Mr. Arcieri is survived by his wife, Deb, son, Tony, daughter, Nikki, sister, Rosemary, and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Francine.
