Mississippi ASLA Chapter Regional Meeting Revived The Mississippi Chapter of the ASLA began their year with Medallion nominations for the Centennial Program and the 100 Year / 100 Parks Project. Things got rolling with the revival of the Regional Meeting where they played host to the Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Tennessee chapters. In the month of August, the chapter made on-site presentations to each Medallion winner for their 100 Years / 100 Parks Project. Members traveled to Tupelo, to honor the Natchez Trace, and to Picayune, in honor of The Crosby Arboretum. To finish off the year, the Chapter hosted the 1999 Annual Awards Program on November 6. Hartley P. Fairchild and Associates, P. A. , was recognized with two Merit Awards for their Warren Hood, Jr. Tennis Courts (Hattiesburg, MS) and one for Diversified Technologies, Inc. (Ridgeland, MS). Native Habitats, Inc. received an Honorary Merit Award for its ecological inventory and analysis of Tishimingo South located in rural Hinds County, MS.
