Michigan State University Program Names New Educators

Michigan State University Landscape Architecture program named a new professor and an assistant professor.

The School of Planning, Design and Construction at the Michigan State University named a professor and an assistant professor to the Landscape Architecture program.

Allison Balderston, PLA, a professional Landscape Architect with ten years of experience at firms in Denver, Colorado. She has worked on a wide array of projects - with a special interest in parks, trails, schools, and affordable and permanent supportive housing - and has supported MSU's outreach efforts in the state. Balderston earned her Masters from Kansas State University.

Mahsa Adib, Ph.D. was named as an assistant professor to the Landscape Architecture program at MSU. This year, she earned her Ph.D. in Architecture from the Pennsylvania State University. She also has a Master of Science in Landscape Architecture from Penn State, a Master of Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University, and a Bachelor of Landscape Design from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. Her research fills gaps in green stormwater infrastructure, public education, and community engagement. The results were published in peer-reviewed journals like the Journal of Environment and Behavior, PLOS Water, and the Journal of Digital Landscape Architecture.

Haoyue Yang was also named as an assistant professor of the program. She earned her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Northeast Forestry University in China, and her Master of Landscape Architecture and Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University. At Texas A&M, she also earned certificates in Health Systems and Design and Sustainable Urbanism.
