Memorial Planned for Station Fire

Crowds gather each Feb. 20 to mark the anniversary of the Station nightclub fire. The names of the victims are read aloud, followed by 100 seconds of silence, one second for each victim.

Stage pyrotechnics at the Station nightclub the night of Feb. 20, 2003 ignited sound insulation foam in the walls and ceilings, engulfing the club in fire within five minutes and killing 100 people.

The owner of the lot plans on donating the land to the Station Fire Memorial Foundation www.stationfirememorialfoundation.org.

Landscape architect Robert Weygand is reportedly overseeing design plans for the memorial park and will conduct a topographic site survey before work gets under way.
