Maxim Plans New World Headquarters
Construction company chosen
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
McCarthy recently began constructing the new $18 million world headquarters for Maxim Integrated Products on the firm's existing campus in Sunnyvale, California. The 120,000-square-foot office tower and five-level parking structure are scheduled for completion in the fall of 2000.
Commenting on McCarthy's selection, Maxim Facilities Engineering Manager, Pio Go explained, "McCarthy's concrete experience was a critical factor in the selection of the firm for this project." In addition to providing general contracting services, McCarthy crews will be performing all concrete work for the office tower and parking structure.
Working around ongoing campus operations will be the primary construction challenge. "The construction site is located next to the chief executive officer's office, an employee recreation area and other fully occupied buildings," explained McCarthy Project Director, Mike Lipton. "To minimize disruption, we will be working closely with the owner and other team members throughout construction to carefully control noise and dust."
The project includes construction of a three-story office tower that will include parking for 97 cars on the rooftop. This parking area will be linked to the fourth level of the new, 468-car parking structure that McCarthy also will be building. Both the office tower and parking structure will have post-tensioned concrete frames. The project architect is Watry Design Group of Redwood City.
