Maryland's Sunset Review Ellicot City, MD The Sunset Review of Maryland's Landscape Architecture license is currently underway in the Office of Legislative Services and will be concluded by March of 2001. The Sunset statute creates the umbrella under which practice law is applied and also creates the licensing board, which is assigned to the Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation (DLLR). Writing in the newsletter of the Maryland chapter of the ASLA, David Barnes expressed concern that the license would not be renewed. "There are definitely folks who will be working towards that goal," warned Barnes. Lesley Frymier, a Senior Policy Analyst with the State's Legislative Services is responsible for directing the review. She has the reputation of being a very capable and qualified professional who will give the Landscape Architects a fair hearing. This fact has helped to alleviate the fears of some Maryland LAs who fear that competing interests are gunning for them.
