March's Housing Completions and Starts Down, Permits Up Year Over Year.





Month over month, fewer permits were issued and fewer residences were completed but more were started.


The most recent statistics released by The U.S Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development for March 2015 showed, when compared to March 2014, declines in housing completions and starts but increases in permits.

Housing building permits were at an annual rate of 1,039,000, 5.7 percent below the revised February rate but 2.9 percent above the March 2014 estimate. Single-family authorizations were at 636,000, 2.1 percent above the revised February figure.

Housing starts were at an annual rate of 926,000, which is 2.0 percent above the revised February estimate but 2.5 percent below March 2014. Single-family starts were at a rate of 618,000, up 4.4 percent above the February rate.

Housing completions were at 823,000. This is 3.9 percent below the revised February estimate and 5.8 percent below the March 2014 rate. Single-family completions in March were at a rate of 602,000, which is 0.8 percent above February's numbers.
