ECTC Announces Guidance Manual for ASTM Testing of Rolled Erosion Control Products. ProductsThe Erosion Control Technology Council [ECTC] announces the completion and availability of the new Technical Guidance Manual for Testing of Rolled Erosion Control Products (RECPs). The ECTC, a nonprofit organization made up of 13 RECP manufacturers, the International Erosion Control Association (IECA), American Society for Testing and Material (ASTM), and anyone interested in erosion control technology has worked closely with TR1/Environmental, Inc. of Austin, Texas. Together they have conducted inter-laboratory studies across the United States to create this critical document. The years of negotiations, test evaluations, and research are reflected in the new manual. RECPs manufactured by each of the 14 directing members of the ECTC can now all be tested according to the same criteria. "Now all rolled erosion control products will be tested for a variety of different strengths, so specifiers can make comparisons so much easier," states ECTC Chair of Marketing Jan Kostielney states. This guide allows Landscape Architects, specifying enters, and other design engineers to choose RECPs that meet their project's performance requirements.
