Made in the Shade with mergers to create USA Shade & Fabric Structures Inc.

Dallas-based Sun Ports International and California's Shade Structures have joined forces to create USA Shade & Fabric Structures, Inc. The new company features 5 brands: Sun Ports and Shade Structures focus on modular shade structures. FabriTec Structures offers high end tensile fabric structures. VPS (Vehicle Protection Structures) specializes in hail protection for the automotive industry, while Shade Concepts focuses on the wholesale market.

The merger combines a company strong in sales and marketing (Shade Structures) with a company that excels in manufacturing (Sun Ports). New Chairman and CEO Basil Haymann notes how the former rivals are much stronger together than they were apart. He states, ?The combined entity generates synergies across the board and enables us to be the largest and most capable shade and fabric structure company in the world.?

Both Sun Ports and FabriTec began operations in the early 1990's. The companies were formed as a result of the success of fabric structures in the European, Australian and South African markets. Fabric structures are now a popular alternative to conventional shade canopies for architects, builders and other designers focused on sun and weather protection. The applications for fabric structures are endless and the designs are often highly imaginative and innovative.

USA Shade has invested heavily in technology upgrades and increased capacity adding 30,000 square feet of new office space and fabric sewing facilities. The new company will utilize over 200,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 25 full-time installation crews. With a staff of over 300 people, USA Shade expects to see annual revenues in excess of $50 million dollars in the near future.

The USA Shade product line is extensive and unique in the industry. Pre-engineered modular structures are available in a wide range of sizes and configurations and can be interconnected for increased coverage. Customized modular structures are designed for specific applications to meet individual project requirements. FabriTec's custom tensioned fabric structures are often larger in scale and are some of the most visually spectacular fabric projects in the world.

USA Shade uses the most advanced technology and materials to manufacture both their fabrics and support elements. The fabrics offered include PVC (Vinyl Coated Polyester) and HDPE, a Polyethylene mesh which is carefully woven to block out up to 95% of the sun's harmful U.V. rays. The mesh fabrics also allow for cool air circulation which is in stark contrast to conventional canvas covers which block the sun but trap the heat. The company manufactures galvanized, powder coated steel support frames and utilizes cutting-edge stainless steel connection components first engineered for the yachting industry.

USA Shade offers clients comprehensive in-house design/build services. The company handles every aspect of a project including: contract specifications, budgeting, feasibility studies, conceptual rendering and modeling, engineering, fabric patterning, manufacturing, project management and complete installation.
