JOB: Rooftop deck slated for pool surround atop rooftop former 5-7 stories warehouse in Brooklyn, begun in 2021. Project eventually dispensed with the pool in favor of a 13,000 sq ft platform surrounding a high-end restaurant, meeting NYC's stringent codes about rooftop decks and need for complete fireproofing. The deck also needed to span 5'5" on top of steel girders. LumberCon deck planks met both requirements, with an attractive sand blast finish that looks like stone and will greatly outlast other deck products.

DELIVERY/UNLOADING LOGISTICS: Busy Neighborhood with many restrictions including No Parking zones and limited hours to unload; crane needed to hoist materials to the rooftop, so delivery took place on Sundays. The 20-units of material per truck needed to be lifted one at a time and moved by hand with special techniques and manpower, because the custom LumberCon decking is 20' long, 2" thick and 8" wide (standard length is 12') weighing in at 200 lbs each for a total weight on one truck at 44,000 lbs. Care and special handling on delivery and storage are the most labor-intensive aspects to using the product, with time savings taking place during installation (fewer joists needed to support LumberCon planks versus wood or plastic lumber) and post-installation (the product is durable and needs very little maintenance to stay new looking for decades).

SPECIAL FEATURES:
DURABILITY: LumberCon is Fire Proof because it is concrete, unlike composite
and wood decking.

MATERIAL/LABOR SAVINGS: Spanning is 5'-5" for commercial loading. The Brooklyn job is installed from underneath a 5' high 5'-5" wide on center platform to distribute weight.

DESIGN FINISHES: LumberCon comes in three distinct finishes - traditional concrete, faux wood plank, sand-blasted finish. It can be painted and/or stained using concrete -ready products. Finished Look features no surface visible fastening -- anchored with typical tapcon screws and brackets for a sleek, beautiful appearance.
