Of Trade Shows and Surveys and Cemeteries

As we begin to gear up for the upcoming Show season, news out of the East tells us that two great trade shows will become one in 2007. The Green Industry Expo (GIE Show) and the Outdoor Power Equipment?EUR??,,????'?????<

At the same time, the SCTC Show, otherwise known as the Western Landscape and Equipment Expo, is gearing up for its 47th Annual meeting. Held at the site of the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona, Calif., the SCTC show is the West Coast version of the GIE/EXPO. The SCTC Show is one of, if not the oldest-running landscape show in the country. For more information about the SCTC Show, call 714-979-6634.

With these two great industry conferences, the Landscape and Turfgrass industry have two of the best ?EUR??,,????'?????<

And speaking about learning more through trade shows . . . Another great way to learn about something . . . In this case ?EUR??,,????'?????<

Not all the questions in the Annual Survey are always the same. For instance, we already know that 73% of you manage more than 50 acres with 28.9% working more than 250 acres . . . And we already know that more than 52% of you have a stable of 5+ lawn mowers . . . And we also already know that about 90% of you and your facilities prefer to buy their landscape equipment instead of leasing (3.5%) or renting (4.2%) . . .

What we are seeing this year, though, is a more well rounded readership. As this is the ?EUR??,,????'?????<

Still some of the answers are the same . . . Last year it was determined that more than 86.2% of you have at least 11 years experience and 55.5% have more than 20 years experience. This year those same answers are 86% and 54.6% respectively . . . We may not have to ask that question again next year . . .

As such, with so much experience under your belts LSMP has embarked on a mission to add several Associate Editors (Read that ?EUR??,,????'?????<

Fields like pest control (less than 30% of you subcontract chemical applicating), irrigation (39.2% hire Irrigation Designers), tree care (the third highest category of requested editorial) or any subject that you feel we need more of in the publication . . .
