Louisville Mayor Abramson Named ASLA Honorary Member

The American Society of Landscape Architects has designated Louisville, Ky. Mayor Jerry Abramson an honorary ASLA member. The mayor will be inducted into the society next fall, along with 11 others, including environmental activist Robert Redford, architect and author William McDonough, and William Hudnut, former mayor of Indianapolis.

The nomination of Mr. Abramson is because of Louisville?EUR??,,????'?????<

Waterfront Park was named one of the 10 best urban parks in the U.S. by Urban Land magazine. This 72-acre public park borders the Ohio River in downtown Louisville. Phase one of the park was completed in 1999. The city is now in phase three.

Louisville, Ky. Mayor Jerry Abramson was re-elected to a second four-year term on Nov. 7, 2007. He will be inducted as an honorary ASLA member next fall.


The City of Parks program will add 4,000 acres of parkland in Louisville, along with a 100-mile hiking and biking loop encircling the city.
