LOS ANGELES ?EUR??,,????'??? Melendrez Design Partners (MDP) recently received the 2002 Urban Design Award from the Pasadena Beautiful Foundation (PBF) at its annual awards banquet held at the Cal Tech Athenaeum in Pasadena. The goal of the annual award ceremony is to bring attention to beautification efforts of various companies and organizations. The Los Angeles-based landscape architecture and urban design firm was recognized for the Streetscapes and Alley Walkways Implementation Plan and honored for its role in the development and preservation of Old Pasadena, which is listed as a historic district on the national Register of Historic Places. MDP headed a team of nine consultants that were responsible for the renovation of historic elements and the enhancement of the district?EUR??,,????'???s historic character - Old Pasadena encompasses 50 restaurants, 136 retail and commercial establishments, 110 office suites, 205 residential units and two residential complex. The project team included: Melendrez Design Partners (streetscape and urban design, landscape architecture); Levin & Associates (architecture, streetscapes); Sanchez Kamps Design, signage); Keyser Marston (economics, financial planning); Psomas & Associates (surveying, civil engineering); Michelle Isenberg & Associates (public art programming); Pasillas & Associates (community participation); Dalan Engineering (electric engineering, lighting design); and Adamson Associates (cost estimating).
