Plantings have begun on the Rose Kennedy Greenway [rosekennedygreenway.org], a project that will see 8,000 trees, shrubs and plants in place over the next five or six months, per the Halvorson Landscape Partners?EUR??,,????'??? design.
The greenway is the result of Boston’s ?EUR??,,????'??Big Dig?EUR??,,????'?? project, which put elevated roadways underground, freeing up land for community use, including acreage for additional parks and gardens to connect with the area?EUR??,,????'???s diverse neighborhoods.
A group of landscape professionals and garden contributors generously donated time, plants and materials to the Massachusetts Horticultural Society?EUR??,,????'???s Greenway Gardens. New England Nurseries was among four landscape firms that took part in the initial planting on the Greenway.
Much of the remaining planting and upkeep will be done by community volunteers.
