Many companies are expected to be hiring less in the beginning of 2007, than they did in late 2006, according to recent survey that hints to a softening in the job market early next year.
Pioneer Landscaping out of Gilbert, Ariz. is just one of the many companies expected to increase pay in order to fill empty positions and entice candidates to come to their company.
Thirty-six percent of hiring managers said their companies planned to increase the number of employees on the payroll over the next three months, down from thirty-eight percent who said they expanded their workforce in the prior three months, according to an online survey for USA TODAY and CareerBuilder.com by Harris Interactive.
The suggestion is that employers are cutting back. However, for many hiring managers this may be a welcome change, due to the trouble they encountered when trying to find qualified candidates to fill open positions.
