Lee Prince, IALD, of Light+Design Associates was named Lighting Designer of the Year at Emap’s Lighting Design Awards 2009 in London, UK, on 12 March 2009. Prince was cited by the judges for his “tremendous versatility and skill” in delivering a diverse range of projects.

The Lighting Design Awards 2009 named 15 winners – 12 for lighting projects and three for product innovations. The following winners are firms of IALD members:

Light+Design Associates won the Lighting Design Award for both the Lighting with Leisure (Gymbox 3, London, UK) and Heritage (Salisbury Cathedral, Wiltshire, UK) categories.

Arup Lighting won the Lighting Design Award for the Special Projects category with its Web of Light project in Liverpool, UK.

Kevan Shaw Lighting Design won the Public Buildings category for the Public in West Bromwich, UK.

DPA Lighting Design won the Retail category for Niketown in London, UK.

The International category was won by Speirs and Major Associates for the Armani Ginza Tower in Tokyo, Japan.

The IALD Education Trust Benefit Dinner 26TH Annual IALD International Lighting Design Awards Presentation is the main fundraiser for the IALD Education Trust Fund.
