Wow . . . We've been getting quite a bit of response to last months call for safety edging on playgrounds. Several manufacturers have sent in examples of soft edge systems, like the J.D. Russell Company and Playspace Services . . . So many that we have opened a new section in next months "Specifier's Guide" to help promote this necessary line of products . . . We have also had a few LA's send in their ideas on how the system should be put together . . . Since they are still coming in we are gathering and organizing the response for publication in the June issue. If you have a product or system idea that would put a soft edge around a Playground send them to me at 14771 Plaza Drive , Suite "M", Tustin CA 92780 or E-mail them to Earthmanx@aol.com . . . One letter pointed out the dangers of Skate Parks and equated them to the hard edge problem of playground design . . . The biggest difference of course is that most Skate Parks require head wear and most skaters have full body armor . . . Another pointed out that the front cover of last months issue featured a wonderful playground . . . with a concrete border !?!?! Ouch . . . can't let that happen again! So . . . Again, send your products and ideas to LASN and we will both publish them and also will be setting up a special section for Playground edging innovations at landscapearchitect.com . . . Speaking about landscapearchitect.com . . . If you go to the site today you will probably find an "Under Construction" message, if not on the front page, then at least throughout the site . . . That's because landscapearchitect.com is under construction . . . or at least is in the process of receiving a major facelift. Keep your eye out for more information and keep checking the site as we appreciate now, and will appreciate greatly your feedback regarding all of the new services available at landscapearchitect.com . . . I could tell you more but then, of course, we'd have to shoot you . . . And speaking about construction . . . Residential construction sales and starts have both been rising in 2002 . . . Sure there is some back and forth on the economy but overall, slow steady growth is the forecast for the rest of this year . . . Further evidence is the steady of climb of the LCSI (Landscape Communications Stock Index) which has posted gains every month since it's inception in December of 2001. So if you are making plans to expand your practice, especially with a job market that is once again favoring the employer, do so with caution, but do so just the same . . . And speaking about making plans for the future . . . If any of you are planning on attending the LightFair show in San Francisco this June 3-5, stop by LASN?EUR??,,????'?????<img
