Ed Underhill, president of Underhill International Corp., has been elected to serve on the Irrigation Association Board of Directors. Underhill previously served on the Expo Advisory Council. Also elected to the IA Board of Directors is Reid Nelson of Nelson Irrigation Corp. Nelson is the fourth generation of Nelson family members in the irrigation industry.

Group President of Caterpillar Inc., Gerald Shaheen, has been elected 2006 chairman of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), the North American-based international trade group representing the off-road equipment manufacturing industry. Also elected as officers to the AEM are: Dennis Eagan, first vice chairman; William Lasky, second vice chairman; William Desmond, treasurer; and Dennis Slater, secretary.

Tom Kimmell, executive director of the Irrigation Association, announced he is retiring as of February 2007. Kimmell announced retirement plans during the 26th Annual International Irrigation Show in Phoenix.




Gregg Breningmeyer



The John Deere Worldwide Commercial and Consumer Equipment Division recently announced Gregg Breningmeyer as the director of commercial segment marketing. Breningmeyer will be responsible for driving growth and profitability of the John Deere commercial mowing and golf and turf businesses.

Ariens Company has announced that Dan Ariens has been asked to serve as University of Wisconsin-Stout executive in residence for the university?EUR??,,????'???s Arthur R. Cabot Executive Residency program.




Brady Surrena



Brady Surrena has joined Advan, LLC as Midwest area manager for the company?EUR??,,????'???s turf and ornamentals division. Advan is a plant health company formed in 2005 serving turf and ornamentals, specialty agriculture, and home and garden markets in the United States and Mexico.

Stephen P. Briggs has been elected chairman of the Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment (RISE). Briggs will begin his two-year term early in 2006. Briggs is director of the BASF Specialty Products Department based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. As chairman, Briggs will lead a 12-member governing board representing 200 members of RISE, a national trade association representing the manufacturers, formulators, distributors and other industry leaders involved with specialty pesticide products.

Todd Macon



Todd Macon has been appointed to the newly created position of Horticulture Retail Specialist for Chemilizer Products, Inc. Before coming to Chemilizer, Macon spent 16 years with local Florida wholesaler Earl J. Small as sales and shipping manager. Chemilizer produces injectors for use in agricultural, animal health, and water management applications and are based in Florida.




Neil Cleveland




Neil Cleveland has been named director of the U.S. Green Business for Bayer Environmental Science. Cleveland will assume his new position on April 1, 2006. Previously, Cleveland was regional sales manager for the lawn and landscape market and northern regional sales manager, golf, for Bayer Environmental Science.




Scott Welge




Scott Welge has been named fungicide business manager for the Chipco Professional Products group of Bayer Environmental Science. He will also serve as the Bayer golf industry lead. Also at Chipco, Jennifer Remsberg was named communications manager for the company. Jennifer was previously a lawn care sales representative for Bayer covering the central Midwest.

Solo, Inc., has announced the appointment of Matt Hurst as National Sales and Marketing Manager, with sales responsibility in the United State for a growing line of Solo sprayers, blowers, chain saws, string trimmers, hedge trimmers and other outdoor power equipment products. John Tuner recently began working as a lawn and landscape sales representative for Bayer Environmental Science, covering Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Kentucky. Turner was formerly a turf, pest control and formulator sales representative for Bayer Garden and Professional Care covering the northern Midwest. Biosafe Systems LLC has announced Michael Elian as their new outside sales associate for the turf and ornamental market. Elian has more than 15 years of experience in distribution sales for the commercial marketplace. He graduated from Emmanuel College with a bachelor?EUR??,,????'???s degree in business administration and received his master?EUR??,,????'???s in business administration from Clark University. The Morton Arboretum?EUR??,,????'???s dendrologist emeritus and longtime champion of urban conservation, George Ware, Ph.D., recently received the Conservation Leadership Award at the Openlands Annual Luncheon. Ware has contributed in many ways to the Openlands, particularly to the TreeKeeper?EUR??,,????'???s citizens group for monitoring and caring for trees. One of the most notable of Ware?EUR??,,????'???s achievements was his discovery of a highly drought, disease, and pest tolerant elm tree called the ?EUR??,,????'??accolade.?EUR??,,????'??
